January 30th, 2016, 12:00 p.m. –High school basketball is just getting started here in the Washington, D.C. region. Week 8 saw a slew of fantastic plays, including great passes, big dunks and game-winners.

Here are the Top plays from the weekend:

No. 10: Wootton’s Kwame Frimpong climbs the ladder for the putback slam in traffic as the Patriots would beat the Titans 62-42

No. 9Lions forward Anthony Duruji drives to the rim and makes an acrobatic move to finish the reverse layup while being fouled! St. Andrew’s beat St. James in a close one 83-79.

No. 8: Southern guard Curtis Holland drives to the rim and throws down a monster jam, posterizing a Gophers defender! The Bulldogs went on to defeat Glen Burnie 69-52.

No. 7: Northwest guard Norval Black gets his own rebound and makes the layup while being fouled again! Black made the next free-throw to give the Jaguars a 57-54 victory over the Wolverines.

No. 6Bullis guard Kyrie Walker comes up with the steal and fast break dunk to cut the Bulldogs deficit to two. Then Vado Morse finds Walker who finishes the layup for the and-1, giving Bullis a 65-64 victory over Episcopal!

No. 5After Heritage made a free-throw to go up 3, Champe’s Dom Fragala dribbles up the court, gets to his spot, and drains a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime! Despite the play and a 49-point effort from Fragala, the Knights fell to the Pride 73-70.

No. 4With the game tied at 56, Quince Orchard works the ball around until Jack Farone gets it and puts up the three, draining it over a Gaithersburg defender with two seconds left! Gaithersburg’s prayer at the end fell short and Quince Orchard prevails 59-56!

No. 3With the game tied at 49, South Lakes guard Alivia Dampier goes the length of the court and finds Kendra Williams who sticks in the game-winning layup to beat McLean 51-49, her second game-winner on the season!

No. 2: High Point center Jaylen Williams gets open under the basket and nails the game-winning layup to give the Eagles the 94-92 victory and end the game that just wouldn’t end!

No. 1:  With the game tied late in the 4th, Mount Vernon guard Alpha Kamara dribbles to the corner and puts up a fadeaway three-pointer that swishes through the net as the buzzer sounds, giving the Majors a 58-55 victory over South County!
