January 16th, 2016, 12:00 p.m. –High school basketball is just getting started here in the Washington, D.C. region. Week 6 saw a slew of fantastic plays, including great passes, big dunks and game-winners.
Here are the Top plays from the weekend:
No. 10: South Lakes forward Andrew Powers finds Cameron Savage on the wing for a crucial three-pointer in the 4th. The Seahawks wouldn’t look back as they beat the Warharwks 56-51
No. 9: West Potomac Sophomore Daryl Mackey rises up to throw it down with authority in the third quarter of the 63-56 win over Annandale.
No. 8: DeMatha senior guard Ryan Allen ends a great scoring half by hitting the step back buzzer beater with the foul. He would go on to hit the extra point attempt helping the Stags defeat the Knights 73-71.
No. 7: Duval’s Darren Rivers throws the outlet to a streaking Kenyon Stone who flushes down the fast break dunk in the Tigers’ 74-54 victory over the Eagles
No. 6: Wise forward Darron Barnes takes the ball up the court and crosses his defender with a beautiful behind the back pass to himself and takes it to the rim for the lay up in the fourth quarter of the Pumas’ 70-50 win
No. 5: Champe’s Dom Fragala puts up a circus shot that goes over the backboard and through the hoop for 2 of his 31 points. Despite the performance the Knights fell to the Phoenix 70-57.
No. 4: With the game tied at 83, Panthers guard Richard Dudley drives to the rim, gets the bucket and the foul to give Paint Branch the 86-83 victory over the Blake.
No. 3: With the game tied at 44, Seahawks guard Tia Benvenuti drives to the hoop and dishes to Kendra Williams who makes the game-winning layup to give South Lakes the victory over Washington Lee!
No. 2: After Chase Cook hit the game-tying three for the Mountain View, Bruins guard Jackson Johnson responds with his own 3 at the buzzer to give Forest Park the 38-35 victory!
No. 1: With Chantilly trailing by 3, Chargers guard Mary Clougherty nails a deep 3-pointer and gets fouled! Clougherty made the free-throw to complete the four-point play as the Chargers stun the Hornets 57-56. Congrats to my main man Kurt Sporkmann and the Chantilly Chargers for pulling off the rare four-point play.
