January 9th, 2016, 12:00 p.m. –High school basketball is just getting started here in the Washington, D.C. region. Week 5 saw a slew of fantastic plays, including great passes, big dunks and game-winners.
Here are the Top plays from the weekend:
No. 10: Loudoun Valley guard Jordan Miller makes a back cut and Nick Ball finds him for an for the Alley-oop! The Vikings went on to win 80-44 over Dominion.
No. 9: West Potomac forward DaJon Bellfield slips past the defense and throws down the alley-oop jam! The Wolverines pulled out a close victory over W.T. Woodson 68-64.
No. 8: Riverdale Baptist forward Tyrese Samuel gets a dunk off an inbounds play and later makes an outlet pass that sets up Deion Hammond for a showtime slam! The Crusaders beat Capitol Christian 76-65.
No. 7: Oakton guard Braeden Johnson uses the stepback to leave his defender in the dust and hit a wide-open 3 pointer! The Cougars went on to beat Stone Bridge 61-55.
No. 6: Bladensburg’s Andrew Moore gets the rebound off a missed shot from Parkdale and passes it down the court to Daniel Oladapo who slams it in for a big dunk in the fourth quarter of the Mustangs’ 70-60 win over Parkdale.
No. 5: Wakefield junior Amari Cooper rises up high to throw down the alley-oop from Alan Treakle in the 3rd quarter. The Warriors defeated Edison 82-54
No. 4: DeMatha forward Josh Carlton spins to get free and flushes down the baseline slam over the McNamara defender! The Stags went on to beat the Mustangs 61-42.
No. 3: Wise forward Terrance Gibbons climbs the ladder and posterizes the defender in the Pumas 91-73 win over C.H. Flowers.
No. 2: Potomac’s Jamal Washington hits Nana Opoku with a behind-the-back pass and Opoku finishes with the poster jam over the defender!. The Panthers took down Osbourn 66-44.
No. 1: Late in the game with Broad Run trailing by 1, guard Anthony Cooper pulls up and drills the game-winning jumper to give the Spartans a 70-69 victory over Tuscarora!
