September 11, 2015, 1:35 p.m. — DeMatha is a team loaded with talent, but seniors Tino Ellis, Terrance Davis and Shane Simmons were in the spotlight as they were presented with their Under Armour All-America jerseys in a press conference on Thursday as a part of the Under Armour Selection Tour. The Stags Head coach Elijah Brooks was alongside the outstanding trio as they sported their new jerseys and spoke to the media.

The three players have now officially accepted their invitations to the ninth-annual all-star game, which will be held Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. and televised live on ESPN2. It is the top all-star game for high school football.

Some alumni of the Under Armour game include first-round NFL draft picks Julio Jones, AJ Green, Trent Richardson and EJ Manuel.

Ellis is excited to follow in the footsteps of Julio Jones and AJ Green. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver, is a four-star talent and a Maryland commit, where he will continue to don Under Armour gear beyond this all-star game. According to Ellis, he is excited to stay close to home for the next phase of his career, but switching from Nike will be an adjustment.

Simmons, a 6-foot-4, 227-pound defensive end, will also be headed to the Big Ten as he has committed to play for Penn State. He is the No. 13-ranked prospect in the ESPN 300 and the No. 4-ranked defensive end.

Davis, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman, remains undecided about his collegiate future. However, he has official visits lined up at Michigan, Alabama, UCLA and Georgia.

These three players were freshman on Brooks’s first team as the Stags head coach. After some early adversity, these exceptional players have helped lead the Stags to back-to-back WCAC championships and into the national spotlight.

The squad is 2-0 thus far this season, having knocked off the No. 2 ranked team nationally, Miami Central, in the opening week. They snuck by American Heritage (FL) this past Friday by a single point for the second win of the year, and will host LaSalle (PA) this Friday.
