Dec., 22, 2016 —  The 24TH ANNUAL NATIONAL CAPITAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT ‘THE PURPLE PUCK’ will have its championship games streamed LIVE at DMVSTREAM.COM on Dec. 30, 2016. A total of four games will be broadcast live and free, available on the DMVSTREAM.COM web site and DMVSTREAM.COM Facebook Page.

The broadcasts will include multiple HD camera angles, instant replay, graphics, live scoring, live clock and insight and analysis from a play by play voice and color analyst. “There is no better representation of local ice hockey than the Purple Puck, an event that has consistently welcomed the best schools in the country to face off with the deep talent pool we have right here in our own back yard,” said B.J. Koubaroulis, founder at DMVSTREAM.COM. “We are excited to forge this partnership with The Purple Puck, which will allow us to make this local tournament reach a global audience.”

The hockey games are part of a broader schedule of broadcasts provided by DMVSTREAM.COM this winter, including basketball, wrestling, hockey and more. The schedule includes approximately 30 events, including playoffs and regional championships.

The Washington Post and The Northwest Current have called the Purple Puck “The best high school hockey tournament in the DC area.” This year’s tournament will host teams from the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Canada. The 2012-13 & 2013-14 Mid-Atlantic Prep Hockey League (MAPHL) Champions Gonzaga Eagles will be hosting the return of the 2015 Purple Puck Tournament Champions, the Hun School of Princeton, NJ.

The tournament will also include local rival Georgetown Prep. The Purple Puck welcomes for the first time to the tournament, Loyola Montreal, Quebec, Canada and rounding out the Prep Division field will be St. Joseph’s Prep from Philadelphia making their eighth appearance in the tournament, as well as the return of the Calvert Hall Cardinals, Baltimore, MD. Keeping with the tournament’s “Hockey for Others” tradition, Gonzaga Hockey looks forward to hosting the return of the Ft. Dupont Cannons Hockey Team who will playing an Exhibition Hockey Game. We will also host our 3rd all-girls High School hockey game and the 1st Annual Directors Cup Game: Georgetown Visitation vs The Academy of Holy Cross.
